Moving house always presents a great opportunity to get rid of things that are no longer needed. Examine the reasons why you are moving - are you upgrading, downsizing, moving into your own home etc., that will help you to decide what things may or may not be needed in the new house.

Also ask yourself, before you pack each thing, whether you have used it in the previous home enough to warrant taking it to the next. Packing consciously helps alot in weeding out unused items. Try to pace yourself over the next few weeks so you have time to go through things properly - rushing at the end is a sure fire way of taking non used items to the next home which defeats the purpose of simplifying your possessions 'en route'. Enjoy your new home Patricia :)

I love simple but with a growing family i seem to have accumulated a 'few' things. I am however moving house in 2 weeks & wondered if you had any advice for simplifying my belongings as I moved?

Your cup analogy of not adding any more water to it – after a certain point it just becomes a mess - is SO my life.

Just wanted to say 'hi' and that I am really enjoying your mix of simplicity tips for my external life and your other posts on making my 'inner' life a bit more simple and less messy too.
