Are you living your true self 24 hours a day?

XA8TMM5FV6F4

Life should not be about finding a work/life balance because all of life should be balanced – being at one with ourselves and all else within this world including what we do during the day to make money.  We are ‘ourselves’ 24 hours a day for all days of the week, we do not become a totally different person when we leave the house, nor when we come home again (although sometimes if feels like we must be different people).

To feel at one with all and have balance in our lives it is important for us to be true to ourselves at all times; to live our life according to who we really are within.  Not a life where one half is a chore and the other is a pleasure.  Who wants a major chunk of their life to be a boring chore that must be completed each day?  Who wants to not acknowledge who they really are for most of their waking life?

Sometimes when we have started on a road which has moved us away from whom we are at our core it can be a difficult journey back – one that can take many years of forward, backward and standing still feelings.  However, when a point is reached where we are no longer prepared to live in a way that is not inline with our true self we have taken a massive step; not only towards a more empowering life for ourself but also towards a life that will benefit many others by deciding to express our true talents as a way of living.

The journey back to living authentically can be one of struggle; one must overcome a way of doing that has often been ingrained for many years.  Whilst we understand that this may be a struggle for ourselves to overcome what we must also realise is that it can be a strain for some of those around us as well.  They have gotten used to us being and doing things a certain way.  They have not (for the most part) decided for things to change so they may not want to see the changes for reasons of their own and that can quite often be confronting for us.  What we must realise in these situations is that we can only work on your own journey – others journeys are their own to work on.   Whilst we can allay some of their queries by communicating to them our reasons for changing we cannot control their feelings or thoughts and a point comes where we must let them have their own journey which may or may not be similar to ours and may or may not be the same sort of relationship we shared with them previously.

When we sense a calling back to our core self, it is a feeling that never really goes away.  Some deny the call for a long time – some deny it all their lives and remain never fully satisfied with life.  However, a balanced life of living fully in a style that is congruent with our talents and gifts is dependent on acknowledging true self and living the life we were meant to 24 hours a day, everyday.

Things do not change; we change.  ~Henry David Thoreau
